Do I need Discord?
Only for Pro, so we can tie the subscription to you. The free plan just needs an email address.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time from your dashboard. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Does Pro include the free plan?
Yes. Pro is everything in the free plan plus the dev interviews in full, an audio edition of every post, the choice of reading effort on posts that support it, and no ads in posts or the archive. Every written post stays free exactly as before.
What do members get that free readers don't?
Four things. The dev interviews are the only paid writing: conversations with developers building in these engines, free readers get the opening. Every post also carries an audio edition you can play from its page. On posts with reading-level rewrites you pick low, medium, or high detail instead of staying at medium. And members see no ads in posts or the archive.
What is a weekly recap?
The smaller news from a section — minor patches, dates, policy tweaks — rolled into one weekly post, so major updates stay readable and nothing slips past. Recaps are free and arrive by email like every other written post.
Who reads the audio edition?
Nobody. It is a synthetic voice reading the same text you would have read, generated after the post is written and checked. There is no extra commentary in it, and code samples are left out because they are no use read aloud. It is a convenience for a commute, not a different edition.
How old do I have to be?
13 or older to read and sign in, the same as Roblox and Discord. To pay you need to be 18, or have a parent or guardian buy it for you.
Can I expense it?
Yes. The billing portal has invoices with your studio's details on them, and most studios cover a membership as a learning cost.
Refunds?
No. We do not do change-of-mind refunds, so cancel before your next renewal rather than after it. Cancelling is one click in the billing portal and you keep access until the month you have paid for runs out. Nothing here affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are set out in the terms.
