Terms of service
These terms cover the Studio Insights website and newsletter at studioinsights.net. By subscribing, signing in, or buying a membership you agree to them.
The service
- Free tier. Every written post by email as it publishes — major updates and weekly recaps for Roblox Studio, Unreal Engine, and Unity — plus access to every post on the site. Signing up sends one confirmation request; clicking the link in it is your consent to receive the posts, plus the occasional email about your account or membership. Every email carries our name, our postal address, a reply address, and an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing takes effect as soon as you use it.
- Membership. For $1 per month you also get the dev interviews in full, an audio edition of every post narrated by a synthetic voice, the choice of reading effort (low, medium, or high) on posts that carry rewrites, and no advertising in posts or the archive. Membership is billed through Stripe and renews automatically each month until you cancel.
Billing and cancellation
- Cancel at any time from your dashboard. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid for, and you are not billed again.
- We do not give change-of-mind refunds. If you cancel part way through a month we do not refund the rest of it; you keep the access you paid for until that period ends. Cancelling before the next renewal is how you stop paying.
- The Australian Consumer Law comes with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded, and they apply whatever our own policy says. If membership is faulty, not as described, or otherwise fails one of those guarantees, you are entitled to a remedy: we fix a minor problem within a reasonable time, and for a major failure you can cancel and ask for a refund, or keep the membership and ask for compensation for the drop in value. Email hello@studioinsights.net and we will sort it out.
- Prices may change. We will email members at least 30 days before a price change takes effect.
Age
You must be 13 or older to subscribe or sign in, matching Roblox's and Discord's own rules. To buy a membership you must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian buy it for you; parents are responsible for a minor's purchases. If a parent or guardian tells us a membership was bought by a minor without their permission, email hello@studioinsights.net and we will cancel it so it does not renew.
Your account
Membership is tied to the Discord account you sign in with and the email address on it. Keep it secure. One membership is for one person; sharing paid content or logins is not allowed.
Content
- Posts are for your personal use. You may quote short excerpts with a link back to the post. You may not republish, resell, or redistribute paid content.
- Everything we publish is general information for developers, not financial, legal, or business advice. Platform policies and economies change often; check current documentation before making decisions.
- Studio Insights is an independent publication, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Roblox Corporation. Roblox and the Roblox logo are trademarks of Roblox Corporation.
Sponsorships
Impression ads are marked as sponsored. Ads are paid by card at checkout, reviewed within one business day, and refunded in full if declined. Advertisers never see or influence editorial content. We may decline an ad that is not relevant or appropriate for game developers.
Acceptable use
Do not scrape the site, attack it, or use it to send spam. Do not try to access other people's accounts or paid content without paying.
Disclaimer and liability
The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies the consumer guarantees in the Australian Consumer Law, and those limits apply only as far as the law allows; where the law lets us limit our liability for a failed guarantee, we limit it to supplying the service again or paying the cost of that.
Ending things
You can stop using the service at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut the site down we will stop billing members and tell them before the next renewal, so nobody is charged for a period we do not intend to publish.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Disputes will be handled in the courts of Victoria, Australia.
